About Spokes4folks

The Spokes4folks Charity Event was conceived in 2007 to accomplish the following goals:
  • Strengthen community involvement.
  • Increase community awareness.
  • Maximize fund raising for the charities.
  • Promote physical fitness and outdoor activities.
  • Provide a fun, safe and successful event for everyone.
The inaugural 2007 event was a huge success. The proceeds from the event went to Kathy Sprague. Kathy is a parishioner at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. In April of 2007 she was involved in a tragic car accident the left her paralyzed below the neck. The Spokes4folks event was organized to get her the funds she need for physical therapy. We were able to write Kathy a check for over $6,000.  Today we are happy to report that she is walking because of the Spokes4folks Charity Ride and all of you that participated and contributed to the cause. We humbly thank all of you that contributed time as a volunteer, participant, sponsor or contributor.

Where will the money go this year?

This year we offering another great opportunity to help people in need of our assistance. The proceeds from this years event will go to the Siena/Francis House, Christian Outreach Program - Elkhorn (C.O.P.E.) and the St. Patrick's Men's Club. Each of these organizations is dedicated to helping improve our community and people in need.

Please visit the following website for more information on each of these organizations:

Overview of 2008 event

This years ride will be the same route(s) as last year with the following distance alternatives for the participants:

  • 14, 26, 32, 42 and more miles

The 14, 26 and 32 miles rides are fairly easy with no large hills (except in Elkhorn and the hill on Maple).  The 42 mile route is a little more challenging and does have some larger hills east of Route 31.

Event Fees

All of the proceeds from the event will be used to cover event cost or go directly to Siena Francis House, COPE and the St. Patric's Men's Club This is a 100% volunteer supported ride event.  Please take time along the way to thank the many event sponsors and volunteers to making this a fun and safe ride.
